Transferring into Legal Studies

What previous courses can I get credit for?

General education requirements

Courses taken in general education requirement areas (Humanities, Social Sciences, Communications, Natural Sciences, Mathematics) at other institutions may be transferred to Highline College. An official transcript from the institution at which those courses were taken must be provided to the Registrar’s office in building 6. The transcript will be evaluated and the student will be advised by the Registrar’s office of those courses/credits which have been accepted for transfer credit at Highline College.

Legal education required and elective requirements

Credits in legal specialty courses may be transferred to Highline College from another paralegal program with greater flexibility being available if the credits are from another ABA-approved program. Students who are interested in applying transfer credits from other programs to Highline College, may set an appointment to discuss potential transfer credits with the coordinator of the department.

Residency Requirement

There is a residency credit requirement which provides that a student must complete a minimum of 23 credits of the total degree/certificate credits at Highline College. Please contact the Program Director for an appointment.
